Fleetwood under 12s made the short trip up the A6 to renew acquaintances with Garstang, a team and a club of similar size, with similar values and both teams did not disappoint despite the weather not deciding which season it preferred.

Fleetwood took a strong squad despite missing key players in Reggie, little ben, Charlie and new signing Oscar Smith who impressed in training on Thursday; who will no doubt be a great addition to the under 12s squad

As the Fleetwood team started to arrive Mike Barkworth was already on his 4th Bacon butty a little disappoint the team where positioned at the furthest point from the famous Garstang pitch side butty van but as he can afford to skip a meal or two it was probably for the best.

The game kicked off with Fleetwood old boy and legend Bobby Johnson fresh after playing for Garstang thirds yesterday at the grand old age of 67 instructing both sides of what he expected and the coin toss which Fleetwood won and elected clever to receive the kick.

What followed was 40 minutes of everything the coaches had asked for over the last few months! Passion Drive support Depth it was all on show after last weeks lacklustre performance against Littleborough. All the players really took on board what Danny had instilled in them at training Thursday. Even in the areas of the game where team talisman Adrian was given a rest the lads really showed their mental fortitude and defended for each other and attacked as a group.

It would be unfair to single out any one player for praise but what stood out was the bravery of max, the tenacity of Theo AB Alex Adrian, Finnlay's positive attitude after the warm up, even Big Ben showed how we know he can play in the last quarter but special mention must be made to just how well JD has taken to rugby and fit in well with the group. He was the much desereved player of the week despite strong showings from Owen, Dougie, Max and all the boys

From a coaching point of view I'm sure everyone will agree it was good to see all the boys hard work translate to a W and although success isn't linear if we can take this result into Blackburn at home in a few weeks we have the potential to enjoy yet another positive result
