Fleetwood under 14’s booked their Blacksticks Blue Junior Rugby Challenge vase quarter final spot after finishing 4th in the pool stage.
Their reward was a trip to Widnes but the day was soon ruined by a commanding home performance. The visitors found it difficult to breakdown an experience home side who progressed to the next round with a convincing victory.
Team manager Sue Anslow praised the Green & Gold show. “We may not have won on the day but we must remember we have now stepped up a group in the competition, which shows great improvement in itself. That means our opposition is tougher with each outing but we are gaining experience with each game. You all played a great part in our team effort.”
Fleetwood now face a series of friendly matches to reorganise starting this weekend at Bury when selected squad members will supplement the under 15 side.
