The team was reformed last October and the Cardinal Allen student was one of the first to join and says training is more than just about fitness.
“It’s different being with people who aren’t my own age but it’s a really relaxed atmosphere when we are together. Being with the team is different from school and I’ve met interesting people who I wouldn’t normally meet,” said Scarlett.
The year 11 student is busy preparing for GCSE’s but manages her time to allow training each Wednesday.
“This is my GCSE year so I have to make sure my homework and revision is completed before I go to training. But it’s worth the extra effort because I enjoy rugby.”
Scarlett performed well against an experienced Clithereo side who went on to take the honours from the friendly game.
“I was a little bit nervous before our first game but that went as soon as the game started. It was a bit difficult to use what you’ve learnt when someone is running at you but it all came together.
New members are welcome at training each Wednesday from 6-7pm at Melbourne Avenue. For further details please contact Helen Kenyon on 07894 964953
